Get ready for the musical ride of your life! This bold, controversial new work mixes high art and low culture -- opera and daytime television -- in an operatic farce that’s by turns hilarious and heartbreaking. At first, talk-show host Jerry Springer seems to be having an ordinary day -- outrageous guests, sordid secrets and a media-hungry audience. But after a surprise visit from Satan, Jerry’s soul (yes, apparently he has one) becomes the battle ground for an epic battle of good versus evil. JERRY... JERRY ... JERRY!
"A brilliant, hilarious, crowd-pleasing musical ... enormously entertaining." New York Times
WARNING: StageWest audiences are accustomed to productions that contain mature subject matter and language. HOWEVER, this show, as suggested by the source material, contains VERY mature subject matter and language. Such is the magical appeal of The Jerry Springer Show.
P.S. StageWest is about the freedom of artistic expression. We are very proud to be awarded early production rights to this highly-acclaimed show. Yes, Jerry Springer - The Opera pushes the envelope - all well-crafted art does - it makes you think, it will entertain you and hopefully, creative a positive conversation. We respect diverse viewpoints. We respect the fundamental idea that people have a choice and encourage people to make an informed decision on whether this is the right show for them to see. We appreciate the public's support for our theatre company and our freedom of speech.
